This course is designed for students with a good level of
English who want to review and consolidate their grammar, and improve the
speaking skills. The focus of the course is business and business travel. It
follows someone arranging a visit to a trade fair and actually making the trip.
In the course you will practise:
Speaking - you copy the teachers and improve your
pronunciation of sounds and words. We work particularly to make the rhythm and
music of your speaking better so that you are easier to understand. You will do
the same sort of exercises in your speaking lesson, but with the teacher
listening and correcting you.
Listening - you have to listen carefully in all your
lessons. Sometimes you have to understand the teachers, who speak carefully for
you, but sometimes you have to listen to people speaking in real situations.
They often speak more quickly, and you learn to understand real English. You
also have listening comprehension exercises to do.
Grammar - in this course you will study uses of the
present, present continuous, present perfect, future and past tenses. You'll
work particularly on idioms and phrasal verbs used in the fields of business and
travel. For more details, see the weekly summary below.
Vocabulary - this course focuses on the language of
business and travel.
Writing - you practise punctuation, writing in full
sentences, and using abbreviations.
Reading - you practise reading aloud in the lessons, and
do some reading comprehension exercises for your homework.
